Inouye Solar Telescope captures highest-resolution sun surface images revealing plasma vortices
The NPR segment reports on new high-resolution observations from the NSF Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) operated by the National Solar Observatory. It describes whirlpools of plasma and turbulence generated when plasma layers move at different speeds, forming vortices at the edges of magnetic features.
